Mexican Feather Grass
Mexican Feather Grass
Nassella (Stipa) tenuissima
Upright divergent. The bright green foliage resembles delicate strings that form vase-like clumps. In the summer, feather-like, green panicles appear and mature to a sandy blonde. Striking when backlit at night.
Mexican feather grass is an exceptional pick for erosion control on sunny slopes. It politely reseeds itself to help prevent any offspring, cut back seed heads before they ripen. Run a rake through it in late winter to early spring to take out dead grass.
